Typical strengthsTablets 500 mg L-carnitine per unit, which needs roughly 735 mg LCLT, on a two-tablet serving; shots 1,000-3,000 mg L-carnitine per 25 or 60 mL
Tablet specificationUnit weight 900-1,200 mg, aqueous HPMC film coat colour matched to brand, disintegration under 30 minutes, assay 95-110% of label
Liquid specificationClear to slightly hazy aqueous solution, pH 3.0-5.0, preserved with potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate, sweetened with sucralose or steviol glycosides
Optional co-activesGreen tea extract, green coffee extract, chromium picolinate, vitamins B5, B6 and B12, choline bitartrate, inositol, taurine; levels set to destination-market limits
Excipients, tabletMicrocrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate, croscarmellose sodium, vegetable-source magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, HPMC film coat
Origin and diet statusActives made by chemical synthesis with chiral resolution or by microbial biotransformation; no animal raw material, so both formats are built vegan and vegetarian
Allergen statusFree from milk, egg, soy, fish, crustacean, peanut, tree nut, sesame and gluten-containing cereals unless a buyer-specified flavour or carrier introduces one
Packing optionsAlu-PVC or Alu-Alu blisters and HDPE bottles of 30, 60 and 90 tablets; 25 and 60 mL PET or amber glass shot bottles; 10-25 mL liquid stick packs
Shelf life24 months for tablets and 18 months for liquid shots from manufacture, unopened, below 25 degrees C

L-carnitine, correctly levocarnitine, is a quaternary ammonium compound: CAS 541-15-1, molecular formula C7H15NO3, molecular weight 161.20. Its established metabolic role is transport — it carries long-chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane so they can enter beta-oxidation, which is why it appears in energy and body-composition formulations rather than in vitamin blends. Thovek manufactures the finished dosage forms on two different raw materials, chosen by format rather than by preference. Tablets are built on L-carnitine L-tartrate (LCLT), CAS 36687-82-8, C18H36N2O12, molecular weight 472.5, which assays 67.2 to 69.2% L-carnitine against 30.8 to 32.8% L-tartaric acid and stays free-flowing on a compression line because the tartrate is not hygroscopic. Liquid shots use levocarnitine free base in solution, where hygroscopicity is irrelevant and the base gives the highest carnitine loading per unit volume. Acetyl-L-carnitine hydrochloride, CAS 5080-50-2, C9H18ClNO4, molecular weight 239.69, and L-carnitine fumarate, C18H36N2O10, molecular weight 440.5, are run where a buyer specifies them. The two formats are engineered separately. On the tablet line, the roughly 68% carnitine content of LCLT sets the arithmetic: a 500 mg L-carnitine strength needs about 735 mg of salt before excipients, so the practical design is a 900 to 1,200 mg tablet at 500 mg carnitine with a two-tablet serving, granulated wet or dry, compressed and finished with an aqueous HPMC film coat colour-matched to the brand. On the liquid line, levocarnitine base is dissolved in a water and glycerin vehicle at 1,000 to 3,000 mg per 25 mL or 60 mL shot, pH-adjusted to 3.0 to 5.0, preserved with potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate, flavoured, and sweetened with sucralose or steviol glycosides before filling into PET or amber glass shot bottles or 10 to 25 mL stick packs. Green tea extract, green coffee extract, chromium picolinate, vitamins B5, B6 and B12, choline bitartrate, inositol and taurine are offered as co-actives in either format, with per-serving levels set to the limits of the destination market. Origin is the question that comes up on almost every enquiry, because carnitine is dietarily associated with red meat. Commercial levocarnitine is not extracted from meat: it is made by chemical synthesis with chiral resolution, or by microbial biotransformation of achiral precursors such as gamma-butyrobetaine or crotonobetaine, so no animal-derived raw material enters the active. Both formats are built vegan and vegetarian as standard, using microcrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate, croscarmellose sodium, vegetable-source magnesium stearate and an HPMC coat on the tablet; a gelatin capsule variant, if a buyer asks for one, would not be. Neither format contains milk, egg, soy, fish, crustacean, peanut, tree nut, sesame or gluten-containing cereal unless a buyer-specified flavour or carrier introduces one, and that is declared on the finished specification. Thovek supplies composition, specification and manufacture; the health and marketing claims made on the finished pack are the buyer's responsibility and must be cleared for the destination market. Each batch releases with a certificate of analysis, and the importer file covers the FSSAI manufacturing licence, GMP and HACCP certificates, free sale certificate, certificate of origin, allergen, GMO and BSE/TSE statements, stability data and halal, kosher or vegan certification as required.

Available grades

Nutraceutical and food-grade carnitine actives, with USP or Ph.Eur.-grade levocarnitine where the buyer specifies a pharmacopoeial reference; FCC food-grade excipients and sweeteners; FSSAI-licensed GMP and HACCP manufacture; ISO 22000; halal, kosher, vegan and vegetarian certification available. Non-GMO and allergen-free line declarations issued per batch.

Packaging: Tablets in Alu-PVC or Alu-Alu blisters and in induction-sealed HDPE bottles of 30, 60 and 90 with desiccant; liquid shots in 25 mL and 60 mL PET or amber glass bottles with tamper-evident caps, or in 10 to 25 mL three-side-seal stick packs. Bottles, blisters and shots are cartoned with the buyer's leaflet and packed into corrugated master cartons, strapped and shrink-wrapped on ISPM-15 pallets. Liquid consignments routed through warm lanes should be stowed away from container walls and away from direct sun during transhipment.
