Forskolin is a labdane diterpene (CAS 66575-29-9, C22H34O7, molecular weight 410.5) isolated from the roots of Coleus barbatus (Andrews) Benth. ex G.Don, a Lamiaceae shrub native to tropical Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and South Asia, India included. The compound takes its name from the binomial Coleus forskohlii, which botanists now treat as an incorrect spelling, but the trade has never dropped it: purchase orders, monographs and customs paperwork still say Coleus forskohlii. Both names go on our documentation so that identity is never queried at the border. This record is for a finished capsule; bulk root extract and isolated forskolin are separate lines with separate specifications and separate tariff treatment. Each lot is built from a solvent extract of the dried root standardised to 10% or 20% forskolin by HPLC, blended with microcrystalline cellulose and a flow agent, and filled into size 0 or size 1 two-piece shells. Shell material is the buyer's decision and it drives the dietary declaration. Hypromellose (HPMC) shells make the finished capsule vegan and suitable for vegetarians; bovine gelatin shells are neither vegan nor vegetarian and carry a bovine-origin declaration that matters for halal, kosher and Indian-market positioning. No porcine material is used in either option. As formulated the capsule is free from milk, egg, soy, fish, crustacean, gluten, peanut and tree nut. If you specify excipients of your own, the allergen statement is re-issued against your bill of materials rather than copied forward. On classification the spreadsheet code is correct for this article and we are keeping it, but it must not be carried back onto the inputs: bulk root extract and purified forskolin sit in different chapters entirely, and the classification note sets out where each belongs. Every batch ships with a certificate of analysis covering HPLC assay, heavy metals, microbiology and residual solvents, plus botanical identity documentation for the root and country-of-origin papers. Thovek makes no therapeutic or disease claim on this material. Permitted dose, claim wording and supplement status differ by destination market and remain the brand owner's responsibility to establish before launch.
