L-Carnitine Liquid Shot

A finished liquid dosage form built around levocarnitine, supplied filled, sleeved and cartoned for private label, or as unflavoured bulk concentrate in drums for buyers who fill in market. The active is L-carnitine (levocarnitine, CAS 541-15-1, C7H15NO3, 161.20 g/mol), the zwitterionic quaternary ammonium compound that carries long-chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane so they can enter beta-oxidation. That transport role is stated here as biochemistry, not as an effect on body weight or composition, and the copy Thovek supplies with the product is written the same way. The house build declares 1,000 mg of L-carnitine per 25 ml shot, with 1,500, 2,000 and 3,000 mg versions to order. Where a buyer prefers the tartrate, the shot can be built on L-carnitine L-tartrate (CAS 36687-82-8, C18H36N2O12, 472.5 g/mol), which supplies about 68% carnitine by weight — roughly 1,470 mg of the salt per 1,000 mg of declared carnitine. The specification follows the USP Levocarnitine Oral Solution monograph, which is the right reference for this dosage form: a solution of levocarnitine in water containing suitable antimicrobial agents, assaying 90.0 to 110.0% of the labelled amount, with pH held between 4.0 and 6.0. The incoming raw material is released to the USP Levocarnitine monograph — 97.0 to 103.0% on the anhydrous basis, specific rotation −29 to −32 degrees, water not more than 4.0%, residue on ignition not more than 0.5%. Presenting carnitine as a liquid is a materials decision as much as a marketing one: USP describes levocarnitine as hygroscopic and freely soluble in water, and free base is awkward to hold in a dry blend, whereas in solution it stays dissolved and stable inside the monograph pH window. Standard fills are preserved with potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate; a preservative-free hot-fill build is available where the buyer's label needs it. Commercial L-carnitine is manufactured synthetically or by biotransformation rather than extracted from meat, so these shots are vegan and vegetarian and carry no bovine, porcine, fish or crustacean input; they are free of milk, egg, soya, gluten and tree nuts, and the flavour, colour and sweetener systems are chosen to keep that declaration intact. Caffeine-free is the default. If a caffeinated version is wanted, design for the label early: under Annex III of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 a beverage above 150 mg of caffeine per litre must carry 'High caffeine content. Not recommended for children or pregnant or breast-feeding women' together with the content in mg per 100 ml, in the same field of vision as the product name.
