HMB (Calcium Beta-Hydroxy-Beta-Methylbutyrate Monohydrate)

HMB is beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate, a downstream metabolite of the essential amino acid L-leucine. The free acid (CAS 625-08-1, C5H10O3, 118.13) is not a practical dry-blending material, so the powder traded in bulk is the calcium salt: calcium bis(3-hydroxy-3-methylbutanoate) monohydrate, CAS 135236-72-5.
