A carbohydrate-electrolyte recovery powder is a compounded dry blend, not a single substance, and its whole value sits in the carbohydrate system rather than in any one ingredient. Thovek builds the base on maize maltodextrin (CAS 9050-36-6, DE 3-20) with dextrose and fructose set to a 2:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio. The reason is transport, not flavour: intestinal glucose uptake runs through SGLT1 and saturates, while fructose is taken up largely through GLUT5, a separate route. Feeding both recruits two transporters at once, and published exogenous carbohydrate oxidation with glucose-fructose blends reaches roughly 1.3-1.5 g/min at intakes of 90-120 g/h, above what a single-carbohydrate feed sustains. Those are formulation reference figures from the literature, quoted so your R and D team can position the build - they are not a product claim. The mineral side is specified against a published window rather than guessed. EFSA's compositional conditions for carbohydrate-electrolyte solutions are 80-350 kcal/L from carbohydrate, at least 75% of that energy from carbohydrates giving a high glycaemic response, sodium at 20-50 mmol/L (460-1,150 mg/L) and osmolality of 200-330 mOsm/kg water. Because tonicity in a powder is decided by the buyer's dose rate and not by us, we supply the blend at a stated electrolyte load per 100 g and let you set the scoop. Roughly 6-8 g per 100 mL lands in the isotonic 6-8% band; heavier reconstitution gives the hypertonic recovery drink that formulation work has put in the 500-800 mOsm/kg region. Citrate salts are used alongside chlorides because they buffer and give a cleaner mouthfeel than a chloride-only build. Commercially this is a clean row to sell. Nothing in the standard blend carries milk, egg, soy, fish, crustacean, peanut or tree nut input, and the maltodextrin is maize-derived, so the product is gluten-free - worth stating explicitly, because European wheat-derived maltodextrin is common and, although it is exempt from Annex II allergen labelling, it is not the same declaration. The blend is vegan and vegetarian with no bovine, porcine or marine material at any stage. It ships as a bulk base for your own flavour system or as a finished flavoured powder, and where a recovery build wants protein alongside the carbohydrate, ISSN nutrient-timing guidance pairs 0.8 g/kg/h carbohydrate with 0.2-0.4 g/kg/h protein - note that adding a protein changes the allergen declaration, so decide that before artwork is set.

Packaging: 25 kg multi-wall kraft paper bags with a heat-sealed food-grade PE inner liner; 20 kg fibre drums and 500 kg FIBCs on request. Because the blend is hygroscopic, bags ship with desiccant, palletised and shrink-wrapped, and we recommend a container desiccant plan for monsoon and equatorial routes. Finished sachets, stick packs and tubs can be filled to the buyer's artwork under a private-label agreement.
