Vitamin D3 + K2 drops are a non-aqueous oral liquid combining cholecalciferol (vitamin D3, CAS 67-97-0, C27H44O, 384.65 g/mol) with menaquinone-7 (vitamin K2-7, CAS 2124-57-4, C46H64O2, 649.0 g/mol) in a lipid carrier. Both actives are fat-soluble and practically insoluble in water, so the pair is carried in fractionated coconut (MCT) oil or refined sunflower oil rather than an aqueous vehicle. Vitamin D3 has an established role in the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus; vitamin K2 acts as a cofactor in the gamma-carboxylation of vitamin K-dependent proteins. The drop format is specified where a tablet is unsuitable — paediatric, geriatric and swallow-difficulty ranges — and allows a brand to offer several strengths from one production line simply by changing the dose volume.
Thovek manufactures to the buyer's strength schedule. Cholecalciferol is taken in as lanolin-derived resin (nominally 40 million IU per gram) or as lichen-derived material for vegan ranges, and is used as a standardised oil dilution, commonly 1.0 or 4.0 million IU per gram; MK-7 is used as an all-trans standardised oil or powder. Combinations most often requested are 400 IU, 1,000 IU or 2,000 IU of D3 with 45, 90, 100 or 200 µg of MK-7 per dose. Blending is carried out under nitrogen in light-protected vessels, with overages set from stability data so that label claim is held across the declared shelf life. Dosing hardware is chosen with the brand: calibrated glass dropper, LDPE dropper insert, or a metered spray delivering a fixed volume per actuation.
Release testing covers assay of both actives by HPLC to USP/IP methods, all-trans isomer content for MK-7, peroxide and acid value on the oil base, heavy metals by ICP-MS and microbiological limits. Each consignment ships with a batch certificate of analysis, MSDS, allergen and GMO statements, a non-animal-origin declaration where lichen D3 is used, halal and kosher certificates on request, GMP/ISO 22000/HACCP certificates, stability summary and the FSSAI export paperwork; a Certificate of Free Sale is arranged where the importing authority requires one. As a finished-dose food supplement the product classifies under ITC-HS 2106 90 99; where a buyer registers it as a medicinal product in the destination market, heading 3004 (medicaments containing vitamins) may apply instead.
