Hair, skin and nail formulations are built around a group of nutrients with defined roles in keratin-forming tissue rather than around a single headline active. Biotin (C10H16N2O3S, molecular weight 244.31) is the usual anchor: it acts as a cofactor for the carboxylase enzymes involved in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and amino acids, and carries an established nutrient function for the maintenance of normal hair and skin. The adult adequate intake is 30 µg per day, although commercial beauty-nutrition products in many export markets are formulated well above that level. Zinc, supplied as gluconate, citrate or bisglycinate, is a constituent of a large number of metalloenzymes and is associated with the maintenance of normal hair, skin and nails. Vitamin C is included because collagen cannot be hydroxylated into its stable triple-helical form without it. The base is usually completed with vitamin E, vitamin A, niacinamide, calcium pantothenate, folic acid, vitamin B12, selenium, copper and iodine. Thovek produces the blend in two formats and the choice drives the formulation. The tablet route uses wet or dry granulation followed by compression at 500 to 1,200 mg per tablet, finished with an aqueous HPMC film coat colour-matched to the buyer's brand; it carries the widest range of actives and gives the longest shelf life. The gummy route is depositor-moulded on a pectin base for vegan and vegetarian ranges, or on a bovine or fish gelatin base where chew texture is the priority, at 2.5 to 5.0 g per piece with a two-piece serving as the common design. Gummies constrain the active list, because cooking and depositing are heat- and moisture-intensive: vitamin C, biotin, zinc and the B vitamins travel well, while vitamin A, iron and some minerals are either dosed with overage or moved to the tablet format. Sugar-free gummies are made on isomalt or maltitol bases. Hydrolysed collagen peptides, keratin, MSM, L-cysteine, inositol and silicon from bamboo or horsetail extract are offered as add-ons in either format. Orders run from a buyer brief or from Thovek's standing house formulas, which keeps development time and first-order quantities manageable for newer brands. Private label covers brand name, artwork, market-specific label copy, jars, cartons and leaflets, with flavour, colour, shape and sanding specified by the buyer on gummy lines. Each batch is released with a certificate of analysis covering assay, disintegration or texture, moisture and water activity, heavy metals and microbiology. Importer documentation includes the FSSAI manufacturing licence, GMP and HACCP certificates, free sale certificate, certificate of origin, allergen, GMO and BSE/TSE statements, gelatin source declaration, stability data and halal, kosher or vegan certification as required.
