Collagen Peptides with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C

This is a compounded powder blend rather than a single ingredient: hydrolysed collagen peptides carry the mass, sodium hyaluronate is dosed at milligram level and L-ascorbic acid supplies the vitamin C. The collagen fraction is enzymatically hydrolysed collagen with an average peptide size of roughly 2,000-5,000 Da, assaying at not less than 90% protein on a dry basis, with hydroxyproline running at about 10-13% of total amino acids — the compositional marker that distinguishes genuine collagen hydrolysate from a general protein powder. The hyaluronate (CAS 9067-32-7) is non-animal, produced by fermentation of Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus, and can be specified across roughly 60 to 2,400 kDa. The vitamin C is pharmacopoeial L-ascorbic acid, CAS 50-81-7, C6H8O6, MW 176.12. Source declaration is the commercially critical part of this record. Collagen is available from bovine hide and bone (types I and III), fish skin and scale (type I, marine) or porcine skin (types I and III), and the three are not interchangeable on a label. Marine collagen is a declarable fish allergen under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 and US FALCPA and must appear in the allergen statement. Bovine and porcine collagen are not allergens, but no collagen grade is vegan or vegetarian; porcine is excluded wherever halal or kosher status is required, and bovine lots ship with a TSE/BSE statement and country-of-origin declaration. Both the hyaluronate and the vitamin C are non-animal. The blend is free from milk, egg, soy, crustacean, mollusc, gluten and tree nut, and the source is fixed at order stage and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis. The powder is off-white to pale cream and dissolves in cold and warm water at about 10% w/v to a clear or slightly hazy solution. Bovine and porcine grades are bland; marine collagen carries a mild fish note that beverage and stick-pack formats usually mask. Vitamin C is oxygen- and moisture-sensitive, so the blend is packed under sealed foil laminate and any overage is agreed on the written specification rather than assumed. Vitamin C holds an authorised EU nutrient function claim for its contribution to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, bones and cartilage under Commission Regulation (EU) No 432/2012, which is the conventional reason it is built into collagen powders; final claim wording on the finished pack remains the brand's responsibility in its market of sale.
