Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol 40:1 Sachets

This sachet carries myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol together at a 40:1 ratio, the proportion used in the published formulation literature on inositol combinations, giving 2,000 mg of myo-inositol against 50 mg of D-chiro-inositol per stick. Myo-inositol, CAS 87-89-8, is cyclohexane-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexol, C6H12O6, molecular weight 180.16, an optically inactive meso compound melting at 224 to 227 degrees C and very soluble in water; Thovek fills USP-NF and Ph. Eur. monograph 1805 material assayed 97.0 to 102.0 per cent on the anhydrous basis. D-chiro-inositol, CAS 643-12-9, shares that formula and mass but is a distinct stereoisomer, melting near 230 degrees C with a specific rotation of about plus 60 degrees at c = 1.2 in water. Because the two components are isomers with identical molecular formula and mass, an ordinary assay cannot tell them apart or prove the ratio, and this is the single most useful question a buyer can ask a supplier of 40:1 material. Identity and the 40:1 proportion are confirmed by chiral or ion-exchange HPLC with refractive index detection, backed by optical rotation, and the result is reported on every lot certificate. A myo-inositol assay on its own says nothing at all about how much D-chiro-inositol is present, which is why cheap 40:1 offers should always be read against the chromatogram rather than the price sheet. Both inositols are white crystalline powders with a mild, clean sweetness that dissolve to a clear solution, which makes the single-dose stick the natural format. The base is unflavoured as standard, with natural lemon, orange or berry systems on steviol glycosides or sucralose available. Folic acid or L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate calcium, vitamin D3, zinc, chromium, manganese, selenium and alpha-lipoic acid can be co-dosed to the buyer's brief. The blend is vegan and free of all fourteen EU-listed allergens; where a cereal-free statement is needed the buyer should say so at enquiry, because phytate-derived inositol traces back to cereal or rice bran and the manufacturing route is declared per lot.
