Pumpkin seed protein starts life as the cake left after pressing pumpkin seed oil. The seed of choice is the hull-less or naked-seeded Cucurbita pepo, of which the Styrian oil pumpkin is the classic type, because it needs no dehulling step and its dark green seed coat is thin enough to stay in the meal. Cold-pressing removes most of the oil, the cake is milled, and sieving or air classification lifts protein into the 55-65% band that the market treats as the concentrate grade. Where organic certification applies hexane is not permitted, so the route is cold press followed by aqueous extraction or supercritical CO2, which is also how the higher isolate grades above 75% protein are made. What sets this protein apart in a formulator's hands is the amino acid pattern. Pumpkin seed protein is unusually arginine-heavy: published analyses of pumpkin seed flour put arginine near 13.3 g per 100 g protein, with commercial ranges quoted from 12.0 to 15.5, alongside glutamic acid around 15.2 and aspartic acid around 8.0. That is a distinctly different shape from pea or soy and is the reason it turns up in blends built around a specific amino acid figure on the back panel. The trade-off is at the other end of the profile: lysine and the sulphur amino acids are both low, with lysine reported near 2.4 g per 100 g protein, roughly half the FAO/WHO adult reference. Pumpkin seed protein is therefore a blending component rather than a sole protein source, and it pairs naturally with lysine-rich pulse proteins. Two practical points decide whether a project works. The first is colour. The powder is green to olive-green and that colour is not removable at any sensible cost, so in a green blend, a savoury bar or a plant-based patty it reads as an asset, and in a vanilla shake it does not. The second is solubility, which is strongly pH dependent: the nitrogen solubility index sits around 15-25% near the isoelectric point at pH 4.5-5.0 and rises to 65-80% in the alkaline range of pH 8-9. Acidic beverage systems will drop it out, while neutral-to-alkaline systems keep it in suspension. Fat content also depends on route, with cold-pressed grades carrying up to 10% residual oil against under 2% for solvent-extracted grades, and that difference shows up in both mouthfeel and shelf life. Decide the route before you fix the specification, not after.

60% protein cold-pressed concentrate as standard, with a 65% premium concentrate and a 75%-plus aqueous-extracted isolate. Low-fat solvent-extracted grade under 2% fat, plus organic certified to NPOP, NOP and EU rules on request.

Packaging: 20 kg or 25 kg multi-wall kraft paper bags with a food-grade PE inner liner; 500 kg FIBC bulk bags on request. Palletised and shrink-wrapped for export. Cold-pressed grades carry residual oil, so store below 25 C and away from direct light.
