A meal replacement is defined by completeness, not by protein content, and that single fact separates it from every other powder in this category. A whey isolate is a protein source. A mass gainer is an energy vehicle. A meal replacement has to stand in for food: protein, carbohydrate, fat, fibre and a micronutrient premix, in proportions someone can take instead of a meal rather than alongside one. The reference shape is Codex CXS 181-1991, the standard for formula foods for use in weight-control diets, and its numbers are the ones the trade actually formulates to - 200 to 400 kcal (835 to 1,670 kJ) per meal for a single-meal replacement, 800 to 1,200 kcal a day where the product replaces the whole daily diet, 25 to 50% of ready-to-serve energy from protein, not more than 30% of energy from fat with at least 3% of energy from linoleic acid as a glyceride, and, for a single-meal version, at least 33% of the specified daily vitamin and mineral amounts at three servings a day or 25% at four. Building to that shape is mostly a premix problem. The protein system is straightforward - milk protein concentrate and caseinate with whey for a dairy build, pea with rice or another pulse protein in complementary ratio for a vegan one - and so is the carbohydrate and fibre base. The difficulty is that the vitamin figures printed on the label have to hold at the end of shelf life, not on the day of blending, and vitamin C, folic acid, vitamin A and thiamine all decline in a hygroscopic powder sitting in a warm warehouse. That means an overage agreed in writing and tied to a defined pack format and storage condition, because the overage sized for a foil-laminate sachet is not the overage a 1 kg jar with a repeatedly opened lid needs. Solubility and viscosity are the other practical constraints: fibre systems such as inulin and soluble corn fibre build viscosity quickly, and a meal replacement that will not disperse in cold water with a hand shaker comes back as a complaint. The regulatory ground is fragmented and worth clearing before the recipe is fixed rather than after. In the EU, total diet replacement for weight control is a regulated category under Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/1798, which sets 600 to 1,200 kcal and 75 to 105 g of protein for the whole daily ration and assesses that protein against a PDCAAS of 1.0 relative to the Annex II reference. Products replacing only one or two meals fell outside the harmonised framework when Directive 96/8/EC ceased to apply to them on 20 July 2016 and are now governed by national rules, so a single EU-wide specification is not available. In India, a formula food intended as a total replacement of the complete diet is a Food for Special Dietary Use under the FSSAI health supplements and nutraceuticals regulations, requires prior approval of the Food Authority on adequate scientific evidence, and is expressly excluded from being treated as an FSDU for a sportsperson - which matters if the same base powder is being sold into both channels. Allergen declaration follows the build: a dairy version is a milk product, soy protein and soy lecithin bring soy, and oat-derived fibre or flour brings gluten, while a fully vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free build is a straightforward reformulation rather than a special order.

Packaging: 25 kg multi-wall kraft paper bags with a heat-sealed food-grade PE inner liner; 20 kg fibre drums and 500 kg FIBC bulk bags on request. Palletised and shrink-wrapped for export. The vitamin premix is the moisture- and light-sensitive part of the blend, so keep the liner intact, store below 25 C and below 60% relative humidity, and rotate strictly by manufacture date.
