Calcium citrate malate, universally shortened to CCM in the trade, is a mixed calcium salt of citric acid and malic acid rather than a simple binary salt. The stoichiometry described by the USP monograph is 6:2:3 calcium to citrate to malate as the hexahydrate, C24H34Ca6O35, molecular weight 1123.0, which works out to 21.4% elemental calcium. The commercially important property is solubility: unlike calcium citrate, which is only very slightly soluble in water, CCM dissolves, releasing calcium ions together with a calcium citrate complex. That is what makes it the default choice for clear beverages, effervescent tablets and instant powders where a suspended mineral would be visible or gritty.
