Vitamin D3 + K2 (MK-7) Blend

Vitamin D3 + K2 (MK-7) Blend

Cholecalciferol with all-trans menaquinone-7 · oil drops and dry capsule blends

A two-vitamin blend of cholecalciferol (D3) and all-trans menaquinone-7 (K2), supplied as an oil concentrate for drops or a dry blend for capsules and tablets, with the D3:K2 ratio set to your brief.

Specifications

CompositionCholecalciferol (vitamin D3) plus all-trans menaquinone-7 (vitamin K2, MK-7) in a carrier oil or dry powder base; ratio set to the buyer's dose brief
Vitamin D3 identityCholecalciferol, CAS 67-97-0, C27H44O, MW 384.64; 1 mg equals 40,000 IU of vitamin D activity
Vitamin K2 identityMenaquinone-7, CAS 2124-57-4, C46H64O2, MW 649.0
MK-7 isomeric puritySpecified as all-trans; premium trade material runs above 98% all-trans, the cis isomer carrying about 1% of trans activity
Input gradesCholecalciferol to USP (97.0-103.0%) or Ph.Eur.; oil dilutions and 100,000 IU/g CWD powders. MK-7 as 0.2-1.3% oil dispersion or 1.0-1.3% encapsulated powder
AppearanceClear pale yellow oil concentrate for drops; free-flowing off-white to cream powder for the dry blend
SolubilityBoth actives are fat-soluble and practically insoluble in water; cold-water-dispersible and microencapsulated grades disperse in aqueous systems
Origin and diet statusD3 from lanolin (ovine) as standard - vegetarian, not vegan; lichen-derived vegan D3 on request. MK-7 by Bacillus subtilis natto fermentation or synthetic
Allergen statusSoy present where MK-7 is fermented on a soy substrate; chickpea-substrate and synthetic MK-7 are soy-free. No milk, egg, gluten, fish, crustacean or nut
Capsule shell noteSoftgel shells are commonly bovine or fish gelatin; specify HPMC where a vegetarian, vegan, halal or kosher shell is required
Label reference valuesEU NRVs (Reg (EU) 1169/2011, Annex XIII): vitamin D 5 µg, vitamin K 75 µg. EFSA tolerable upper intake level for vitamin D in adults is 100 µg (4,000 IU)/day
Regulatory statusCholecalciferol and menaquinone (principally MK-7) are listed in Annex II of Directive 2002/46/EC; MK-7 from B. subtilis natto authorised by Decision 2009/345/EC
Storage and shelf lifeCool, dry, below 25 C, protected from light and oxygen; both actives are oxidation-sensitive, so overage is set against the agreed shelf life
HS code2106.90.99 (India 21069099) as a finished supplement; 2936.90.00 for a bulk vitamin intermixture
Thovek supplies vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 as a matched pair rather than as two separate line items. The D3 is cholecalciferol (CAS 67-97-0, C27H44O, MW 384.64), for which 1 mg carries 40,000 IU of vitamin D activity; the K2 is menaquinone-7 (CAS 2124-57-4, C46H64O2, MW 649.0), the long-chain menaquinone found in natto. Only the all-trans isomer of MK-7 is biologically meaningful — the cis isomer has been measured at roughly 1 per cent of the trans form's activity — so we specify all-trans content, not simply total MK-7, on every batch. Two build routes are available. For drops, crystalline cholecalciferol and an MK-7 oil dispersion (typically 0.2 or 1.3 per cent on MCT or sunflower oil) are blended into a food-grade carrier oil and dosed per drop. For capsules, tablets, sachets and fortified powders, we use cold-water-dispersible D3 (commonly 100,000 IU/g) with a microencapsulated MK-7 powder. Origin has to be declared and it is not cosmetic detail: D3 is normally derived from lanolin, which is ovine and therefore vegetarian but not vegan, unless you specify lichen-derived D3; MK-7 is either fermented by Bacillus subtilis natto or made synthetically, and soy-substrate fermentation makes the material a soy allergen risk that chickpea-substrate and synthetic grades avoid. Both forms are established in supplement law. Cholecalciferol, and menaquinone occurring principally as menaquinone-7, appear in Annex II of Directive 2002/46/EC, and vitamin K2 (menaquinone) from B. subtilis natto was authorised as a novel food ingredient by Commission Decision 2009/345/EC. For label arithmetic, the EU nutrient reference values in Annex XIII of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 are 5 µg for vitamin D and 75 µg for vitamin K, and EFSA's tolerable upper intake level for vitamin D in adults is 100 µg (4,000 IU) per day.
