Turmeric + Black Pepper Capsules

The fill is a two-component blend and it is specified as two components, not as one ingredient. The bulk of it is rhizome extract of Curcuma longa L., family Zingiberaceae, standardised to not less than 95.0% total curcuminoids by HPLC. Curcuminoids are a family rather than a single molecule: curcumin, CAS 458-37-7, C21H20O6, MW 368.38, melting at about 183 C, makes up roughly 75 to 80% of the fraction, with demethoxycurcumin at 15 to 20% and bisdemethoxycurcumin at 3 to 5%. The minor partner is fruit extract of Piper nigrum L., family Piperaceae, standardised to not less than 95.0% piperine by HPLC — piperine being the pungent amide alkaloid, CAS 94-62-2, C17H19NO3, MW 285.34, melting at 131 to 135 C. In a standard 500 mg fill the split is 495 mg of curcuminoid extract to 5 mg of pepper extract, which puts roughly 470 mg of curcuminoids and about 4.75 mg of piperine in each capsule. The ratio belongs on the purchase order rather than being assumed, and 99:1, 100:1, 50:1 and 20:1 builds are all routine. What gets tested is the filled capsule, not the drums that went into it. Both markers are assayed on the finished dosage unit by HPLC and a content-uniformity result is issued per lot, which matters most for piperine: at a nominal 5 mg per capsule, segregation in the blender shows up in the low-dose marker long before it shows up in the curcuminoid figure. Turmeric is one of the more heavily adulterated botanicals in world trade, so every lot is screened negative for metanil yellow, Sudan dyes and lead chromate, synthetic curcumin is excluded, and natural origin can be confirmed by carbon-14 biobased content to ASTM D6866. Mycotoxin control follows the destination rule rather than a house number: EU Regulation 2023/915 sets aflatoxin B1 at not more than 5.0 ug/kg and total aflatoxins at not more than 10.0 ug/kg for turmeric and for fruits of Piper spp., and the limits are applied to the fill and verified per lot. Curcumin is light-sensitive and unstable above neutral pH, which drives the presentation. Shells are HPMC size 0 or 00, vegan and titanium-dioxide-free, with bovine gelatin only on written instruction and porcine gelatin never used unless a buyer specifies it. Fill weight, uniformity of mass to Ph. Eur. 2.9.5 and disintegration are released on the finished capsule, and packing is opaque — HDPE bottle with induction seal and desiccant, or alu-alu blister where a longer light and moisture barrier is wanted. Capsules ship bottled, blistered or unlabelled in bulk for the buyer's own line, with COA, MSDS, allergen, vegan, GMO and halal or kosher declarations per shipment.
