Ganoderma lucidum fruiting body + Inonotus obliquus sclerotium · dual-extract capsules, beta-glucan assayed

Finished two-piece capsules of dual-extracted reishi fruiting body and chaga sclerotium, assayed on beta-glucan rather than UV polysaccharide alone. Vegan HPMC shell, filled and packed in India.

Specifications

Product format and compositionFinished two-piece hard capsule. Standard 500 mg fill: reishi fruiting-body extract 300 mg with chaga sclerotium extract 200 mg. Other ratios and fill weights to order
Reishi fractionGanoderma lucidum (Curtis) P. Karst., cultivated fruiting body, hot-water or dual water-and-ethanol extract; polysaccharides 30% by UV, beta-glucan typically 15% to 30%
Chaga fractionInonotus obliquus (Fr.) Pilat sterile conk (sclerotium) from Betula spp.; hot-water or dual extract, polysaccharides 30% by UV, beta-glucan typically 15% to 25%
Assay basisBeta-glucan by the enzymatic mushroom-and-yeast method in the AOAC 995.16 lineage, alpha-glucan and free sugars subtracted. UV polysaccharide alone counts grain starch and reads high
Marker chemistryReishi: ganoderic acid A, CAS 81907-62-2, C30H44O7, MW 516.67. Chaga: betulin CAS 473-98-3 and betulinic acid CAS 472-15-1, C30H48O3, MW 456.7, plus inotodiol. HPLC to order
Oxalate declarationChaga is oxalate-rich; published soluble oxalate in chaga preparations runs about 1,700 to 5,300 mg/kg. Per-lot oxalate figure issued, reduced-oxalate chaga fraction on request
Fill appearance and solubilityFine reddish-brown to dark brown powder, characteristically bitter. Disperses in water and dissolves in hot water; the fill is a water-extract, not an oil or resin
Capsule shellHPMC (hypromellose) size 0 as standard, vegan and titanium-dioxide-free. Bovine gelatin only on written instruction; porcine gelatin is never used unless specified by the buyer
Fill weight, uniformity, disintegrationSize 0 holds roughly 400 to 500 mg at 0.6 to 0.8 g/mL. Ph. Eur. 2.9.5 at 300 mg or more: within 7.5% of average. Disintegration NMT 30 min, Ph. Eur. 2.9.1 / USP <701>
Allergen, diet and gluten statusVegan and vegetarian with the HPMC shell; fungal origin, not plant, bovine, porcine or marine. Free of milk, egg, soy, fish, crustacean, nut, sesame and gluten
Origin and sourcingReishi fruiting body is cultivated, Indian material included. Chaga is wild-harvested from boreal birch and does not occur in India; harvest country declared per lot
Contaminants and microbiologyLead NMT 3.0, arsenic NMT 1.0, cadmium NMT 1.0, mercury NMT 0.1 ppm. TPC NMT 10,000 cfu/g, yeast and mould NMT 500 cfu/g, E. coli, Salmonella and S. aureus absent
Shelf life and storage24 months from manufacture in the sealed original pack, below 25 C and under 60% RH. Bottles filled with induction seal and desiccant; capsules are hygroscopic in open air

This is a finished dosage form rather than a bulk powder, and two different organisms carry its specification. The reishi fraction is Ganoderma lucidum (Curtis) P. Karst., family Ganodermataceae, and the part used is the cultivated fruiting body. Buyers writing a specification should know that molecular work reassigned much of the East Asian cultivated lingzhi to Ganoderma lingzhi Sheng H. Wu, Y. Cao & Y.C. Dai in 2012, while the trade still ships under the older name; Thovek keeps G. lucidum on the label and states the actual cultivated strain lineage on request. The chaga fraction is Inonotus obliquus (Fr.) Pilat, and its commercial part is not a fruiting body at all but the sterile black conk, a sclerotium the fungus forms on living birch. That distinction has a sourcing consequence: reishi is cultivated on logs and bags, Indian material included, whereas chaga is wild-harvested across the circumboreal birch belt of Russia, the Nordics, northern China and North America and does not occur in India, so the chaga harvest country is declared on every lot and the sustainability of the collection chain is documented. The assay basis is where mushroom capsules are usually oversold, and this record is deliberately conservative about it. Polysaccharide content by phenol-sulphuric UV counts alpha-glucan, which means cereal starch carried through from mycelium grown on grain reads as though it were active material. Thovek therefore specifies beta-glucan by the enzymatic mushroom-and-yeast method in the AOAC 995.16 lineage, with alpha-glucan and free sugars measured and subtracted, and states the UV figure only alongside it. Only fruiting body and sclerotium go into the fill; mycelium-on-grain biomass is a separate article supplied solely on written instruction, and it changes both the beta-glucan number and the gluten declaration. Triterpene identity can be confirmed by HPLC against ganoderic acid A for the reishi fraction and against betulin, betulinic acid and inotodiol for chaga. One further composition point belongs on the table rather than in the small print: chaga is an oxalate-rich material, with published soluble oxalate in chaga preparations in the region of 1,700 to 5,300 mg per kg, so a per-lot oxalate figure is issued and a reduced-oxalate chaga fraction can be specified. The capsule itself is engineered to the brand owner's formula. Standard shells are HPMC size 0, vegan and titanium-dioxide-free; bovine gelatin is supplied only on written instruction and porcine gelatin is never used unless a buyer specifies it in writing. Fill weight, uniformity of mass to Ph. Eur. 2.9.5 and disintegration are checked on the filled capsule, and the finished lot is released against its own certificate rather than on component certificates. Capsules can be delivered bottled, blistered or unlabelled in bulk for the buyer's own packing line, with COA, MSDS, allergen, vegan, GMO, BSE/TSE and halal or kosher declarations per shipment. Thovek states composition and analytical results only; product positioning, permitted wording and any on-pack claim are the brand owner's responsibility in the destination market, and finished supplements sold in India additionally carry the labelling set required by the FSSAI health supplement and nutraceutical regulations.
