Colostrum is the mammary secretion produced in the first days after calving and it differs compositionally from the milk that follows: it is far richer in immunoglobulins, principally IgG, along with lactoferrin, growth factors and oligosaccharides. Thovek collects first-milking bovine (Bos taurus) colostrum surplus to the calf's own requirement, screens each intake, pools to grade, then skims, pasteurises at low heat and spray dries it to a free-flowing cream to pale yellow powder standardised to 20%, 25% or 30% IgG. A freeze-dried grade is available where the buyer wants the gentler drying route. IgG is quantified by single radial immunodiffusion, the reference method for bovine colostrum. ELISA and HPLC are offered as cross-checks, but they read differently against RID on the same sample and the two should not be mixed inside one specification without agreeing the method up front. Routine analysis also covers protein by Kjeldahl (N x 6.38), fat, lactose, moisture and ash, a full pathogen panel, and antibiotic residue screening for beta-lactams, tetracyclines and sulphonamides. Grade selection is mostly a cost and format decision: higher IgG grades carry higher protein and lower lactose, which matters for buyers building low-lactose or high-protein formats. Allergen, origin and paperwork all follow from this being a dairy material. The powder CONTAINS MILK, a declarable allergen under Annex II of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 and under US FALCPA, and it contains lactose. It is bovine, therefore not vegan, though it suits lacto-vegetarian positioning. There are no egg, soy, fish, crustacean, nut or gluten inputs unless an instantised grade lecithinated with soy lecithin is specified, which adds a soy declaration; ask for sunflower lecithin if that is a problem. India has been recognised by WOAH as a negligible BSE risk country since May 2010. Export of milk and milk products from India requires an Export Inspection Council health certificate from an EIC-approved establishment, and entry into the EU additionally requires the country and the establishment to be listed for milk, colostrum and colostrum-based products under Commission Implementing Regulations (EU) 2021/404 and 2021/405, so confirm current listing before contracting. Thovek states composition and specification only and makes no therapeutic claim.
