Apamarga Extract (Achyranthes aspera)

Apamarga is the Ayurvedic name for Achyranthes aspera L., a common Amaranthaceae herb of the Indian plains known in English as prickly chaff flower or devil's horsewhip. We extract the cleaned, dried whole plant - aerial parts with root - and supply the result as a free-flowing brown powder for capsule, tablet, churna and liquid-extract manufacture. The species carries triterpenoid saponins based on oleanolic acid as the aglycone, together with ecdysterone (20-hydroxyecdysone) and long-chain alcohols; these are the constituents that give the material its identity in an HPTLC fingerprint. Be realistic about standardisation. Achyranthes aspera has no pharmacopoeial percentage marker in general trade use, so the honest way to buy it is on a measured drug-to-extract ratio - native 4:1 or 10:1, no carrier - with an optional total-saponins figure by gravimetric or vanillin-sulphuric colorimetry against a limit and a method you fix on the purchase specification. Gravimetric and colorimetric saponin numbers do not agree with each other, and the old literature figure for the alkaloid achyranthine is not a validated quantitative marker; we will not certify one. Every lot ships with drug-to-extract ratio, identity fingerprint, heavy metals, pesticide screen and microbiology on the Certificate of Analysis. The material is vegan and vegetarian, with no milk, egg, soy, fish, crustacean, gluten, sesame or nut inputs anywhere in the process, and is non-GMO; kosher and halal certification is available on request.
