Coenzyme Q10, known in pharmacopoeial texts as ubidecarenone (INN), is the benzoquinone C59H90O4 (CAS 303-98-0, molecular weight 863.34) carrying a ten-unit isoprenoid side chain. Thovek supplies the all-trans isomer produced by microbial fermentation rather than by chemical synthesis: the fermentation route generates only the all-trans conformation, whereas synthetic material can carry cis isomers that are not the naturally occurring form. Standard material assays to not less than 98.0% by HPLC, consistent with the USP Ubidecarenone monograph limits of 98.0-101.0% on the anhydrous basis. The neat substance is an odourless, tasteless crystalline powder, light orange to dark orange, melting at 49-51 °C. It is practically insoluble in water, very slightly soluble in ethanol and soluble in chloroform and diethyl ether, so the crystalline grade is intended for oil-phase softgel and oil-suspension work. For tablets, sachets, gummies and beverages we also offer micronised powder, 10% and 20% cold-water-dispersible grades on acacia gum, modified maize starch or maltodextrin carriers, and solubilised dispersions in medium-chain triglycerides. Coenzyme Q10 degrades on exposure to light and heat, so every grade ships nitrogen-flushed inside opaque foil laminate. Fermentation-derived Coenzyme Q10 contains no animal-derived material and suits vegan and vegetarian positioning; kosher and halal documentation is available. The crystalline grade is free of milk, egg, fish, crustacean, tree nut, peanut, gluten and soy. Buyers should note two commercial traps: the dispersible and oil-dispersed grades commonly carry soy lecithin as emulsifier and maize-derived carriers, both of which must be declared on the finished label, and a finished softgel built on a bovine or fish gelatin shell loses vegan and vegetarian status, with fish gelatin additionally triggering a fish allergen declaration. Documentation covers COA with HPLC assay and isomer profile, residual solvents, heavy metals, microbiology, allergen and GMO statements, and a BSE/TSE-free declaration.
