Omega-3 concentrate is refined fish body oil that has been transesterified to ethyl esters, fractionated by short-path or molecular distillation to strip saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, and then either kept as ethyl esters (EE) or re-esterified with glycerol back to a triglyceride (rTG). The result is an oil carrying two to four times the eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C20H30O2, MW 302.5) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22H32O2, MW 328.5) of the 18/12 starting oil, so a smaller capsule delivers the same omega-3 load. Commercial ratios include 33/22, 40/20, 50/20, high-DHA 20/50 and high-EPA 70% grades, in both TG and EE versions. Two pharmacopoeial anchors govern the category. For ethyl esters, the USP monograph Fish Oil Omega-3 Acid Ethyl Esters Concentrate requires not less than 60% total omega-3 acid ethyl esters and not less than 50% combined EPA and DHA ethyl esters; the higher-strength Ph. Eur. Omega-3-acid ethyl esters 90 monograph sets EPA ethyl ester min 40%, DHA ethyl ester min 34%, EPA plus DHA min 80% and total omega-3 ethyl esters min 90%, with oligomers capped at 1.0 area %. For triglyceride grades, Ph. Eur. 1352 Omega-3-acid triglycerides requires triglycerides min 50%, ethyl esters plus free acids max 5.0% and oligomers max 3.0%, with re-esterified material carrying EPA plus DHA min 45% and total omega-3 acids min 60%. Oxidation is held to the GOED ceilings of PV 5 meq/kg, p-anisidine 20 and TOTOX 26, and dioxins and PCBs to the EU 2023/915 marine-oil limits - concentration steps also strip persistent organic pollutants, so concentrates typically test well inside those figures. Because the feedstock is body oil rather than liver oil, there is no meaningful vitamin A or D carry-over, and the concentrate can be dosed at high EPA/DHA levels without fat-soluble vitamin constraints. The oil is of marine animal origin, so it is neither vegan nor vegetarian, and carries FISH as a declarable allergen under EU Regulation 1169/2011 Annex II. It is free from milk, egg, soy, gluten, crustacean and nut inputs. Every lot ships with GC fatty acid profile, oxidation values, heavy metals and POP results, and MarinTrust or Friend of the Sea chain of custody can be arranged.

Eur. omega-3-acid ethyl esters grades to order. Softgel fills 500 mg and 1000 mg, bovine or fish gelatin shells, halal and kosher available.

Packaging: 25 kg and 190 kg (200 L) nitrogen-blanketed HDPE or epoxy-lined steel drums; 20 kg pails; 1 kg amber HDPE bottles for samples. Softgels: 10-25 kg in food-grade double LDPE liners inside fibre or HDPE drums with desiccant, typically 25,000-50,000 count. Cool, dark, dry storage; refrigerated container on request.
