Flaxseed oil, traded interchangeably as linseed oil, is the fixed oil expressed from the seed of Linum usitatissimum L. It is the densest common plant source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, C18:3 n-3), the omega-3 essential fatty acid that the human body cannot synthesise. Thovek supplies cold-pressed virgin oil that has been mechanically expressed, decanted and filtered only — no solvent, no chemical modification — and refined winterised food grade where a neutral colour and flavour profile is needed for beverage or emulsion work. Typical ALA sits at 50–58% of total fatty acids; the wider published range for virgin linseed oil is 35.0–65.0%, with linoleic acid at 11–24% and oleic acid at 11–35%, so every lot ships against its own GC fatty acid profile rather than a nominal figure. The same chemistry that makes the oil commercially interesting also makes it fragile: three double bonds per ALA molecule mean flaxseed oil oxidises far faster than oleic-rich oils. We press to order, blanket the headspace with nitrogen, fill into light-excluding containers, and will add natural mixed tocopherols, ascorbyl palmitate or rosemary extract to a customer's declared level before filling. Peroxide value and anisidine value are reported at dispatch so buyers can calculate remaining shelf life against their own encapsulation schedule instead of inheriting an unknown oxidation history. India is the fifth-largest linseed producer worldwide, with the crop concentrated in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, which gives Thovek a domestic rabi-season supply base and a short, auditable chain from farm to press. For labelling, EU nutrition-claim thresholds are worth noting at the formulation stage: a food may be described as a source of omega-3 fatty acids at 0.3 g ALA per 100 g and per 100 kcal, which a modest inclusion of this oil clears comfortably. The oil is fully vegan and free of the major declarable allergens — buyers encapsulating it should note that the allergen and dietary status of the finished softgel is then set by the shell, not the fill.
